molluscum contagiosum information please!?!

Question: Molluscum contagiosum information please!?
hello I wanna start off by saying i am 25 weeks pregnant, my husband and i have been together off and on for 4 years but got married about 3 months ago. I have been going to my obgyn regularly and have had no problems until about the beginning of january. I noticed a rash forming in the genital area (embarrassing!) so i mentioned it to my doctor, he took a look and advised it was a common rash...to just wear loose fitting clothes and cotton underwear. So i took his advice plus a bit from the internet by taking oatmeal baths. a month and a half went by and it just kept getting worse (larger and more bumps, reddish in color) So i went back to the doctor and had him look at it again. He advised it was molluscum contagiosum a skin virus and also known as a std. I freaked out bad, i have never had an std and have been having sex with the same man for years so why now? The doctor told me i probably got it from my husband but it was also possible that i got it along time ago from someone else and because i am immune deficient it just popped up. He told me everything will be fine and it will go away by itself and cause no harm to the baby. But im still freaked out!!! Everything i read on the internet tells me that if you have molluscum contagiosum you WILL have the bumps. I have never noticed them on my husband but i never had them until the beginning of January. So how did they evolve??? I have an appointment with a dermatologist in the morning but i would really like advice here as well, if not moral support.

Sometimes the virus can stay dormant and not manifest until times of extra stress on the body such as during pregnancy.

Molluscum contagiosum (mo-LUS-kum kun-tay-jee-OH-sum) is a relatively common viral infection of the skin that most often affects children. It results in firm bumps (papules) that are painless and usually disappear within a year without treatment. If the papules are scratched or injured, the infection can spread to surrounding skin.

Though common in children, molluscum contagiosum may affect adults as well. In adults, molluscum contagiosum involving the genitals is considered a sexually transmitted disease (STD). The disorder may also be seen in adults with an altered immune system.

Molluscum contagiosum spreads through direct person-to-person contact and through contact with contaminated objects. Because it spreads easily, doctors often recommend medical treatment, especially for adults.
