Never Thought I Would Have To Ask This Question?!

Question: Never Thought I Would Have To Ask This Question?
I have been on a water pill and Lisinopril(40 mg 2x per day) for 2 1/2 months for hypertension . This medication did lower my blood pressure but it did not control it it....145/73, 156/79, 182/80..up and down, up and down.

Yesterday my doctor put me on Clonidine(0.1mg 2x per day) along with the water pill and this morning my blood pressure was 123/73 HR was 55. Since this is a new medication I wanted to monitor my bp off and on all day to see how I was doing with it.

I was getting readings like 92/57 HR66, 111/60 HR56, 119/67 HR55. I was pleased with the readings but I feel like I am drugged up. I slept a lot today. I'm usually hyper which is why the doctor said he wanted to put me on this particular medication.

Now, my question.....I know how to bring my bp down when it gets too high but never thought I would have to ask how to bring it up?

I have never seen my bp with numbers like this. The 92/57 reading scared me. Was that too low or is my body just adjusting itself to the new medication? I couldn't get in touch with my doctor today so I thought I would ask the question on here.

Answers:

I struggle with low blood pressure. Reading this, I feel like your body is adjusting to the new medications. The 92/57 isn't necessarily too low, it depends on how you felt. My blood pressure is usually about 80/55 in the mornings when I first wake up, and my blood pressure will fluctuate between 80/55 to 130/85 throughout the course of a day. I've found that a lot of people that have blood pressure problems will deal with a lot of fluctuation. I would make an appointment to go in and talk to your doctor, but unless you feel ill or weak, I wouldn't worry too much. Good way to bring up your blood pressure is to lightly salt your food, helps retain water, and bring up blood pressure. When I upped my meds, I was having hypertension, but after a couple weeks, my blood pressure went up, and is more stable than it was. I hope you feel better soon!
