Which patient has a higher chance of living for a longer period of time? Lung ca!

Question: Which patient has a higher chance of living for a longer period of time? Lung cancer or Liver cancer patient?
I want to know because I currently have two relatives with cancer. My Dad - Liver Cancer, My Uncle - Lung Cancer. Of course I don't want them to die, but I have a feeling that my dad would die first since most liver cancer patients live for less than a year after being diagnosed. On the other hand, I have no idea how long most lung cancer patients last.

Answers:

so much garbage info out there, it's hard to decide where to start.

Best you ask a family doctor or do some research yourself. What stage do they have? Have both asked for and received all their test results etc.? They're entitled to it.

While both cancer are serious, they are in most cases no immediate ''death sentence''. I have a friend who was operated for lung cancer five years ago and his lung is still okay today - all clear.
Metastasis however has moved into the liver, and this has now to be dealt with. There are folks I know who lived (so far) ten years after a liver cancer diagnosis. Some had two operations - the liver regenerates itself.
So first find out exactly what cancer they both have, then research it. Good links are here:

and suggest they both join a support network.

The time frame is about the same for each. The death from either of these disorders is quite uncomfortable and death usually results from massive blood loss. This is usually a result from trying to artificially prolong life via ventilator therapy for the lung cancer and liver cancer via mult transfusions as the organ fails. I have witnessed death resulting from both. Hospice care will prevent both of those outcomes using morphine drips as the patients fail. I work as a nurse. Those are the days we dread most. You will be taxed emotionally dealing with both your dad and uncle. I wish you the very best. Hospice also includes family counseling. Please avail yourself to those services. It will help. Good luck and Godspeed too you.
