Ccancer? Im very scared?!

Question: Ccancer? Im very scared?
I just had surgery today because I had a cyst under an impacted wisdom tooth. I had both removed..I had to get an iv and that thing that goes in ur nostrils around ur neck (im 13 idk what its called) and a blood pressure thing and a thing that clips on ur finger..but they sent the cyst to the pathologist..do you think there's a chance it could be cancer? Excuse my misunderstanding of the terms for these things..

Answers:

((((hugs)))) there's a chance that anything is cancer. However, your impacted wisdom tooth is waaay more likely the cause of the cyst. Good luck, sweetie

"Skye R" is thinking of an abscess which is a pocket of pus.
No this is not at all likely to be a malignancy/cancer.
The tube to your nose is called a nasal cannula for oxygen.
The little monitor that clips to your finger measures oxygen in the blood.
It is called an oximeter. and it takes oximetry readings.
No one expects you to know these medical terms at age 13.
Good luck. You will have the pathology report soon.
Ask your surgeon what it showed.
Tell him or her you have been concerned about a cancer.
I believe you will receive good news.

A cyst is not cancer.

They would be sending it to the pathologist to find out exactly what the infection was that caused it, in case they need to change the type of antibiotics you are given.

All the rest of the stuff, while scary, is routine for someone who has had an anasthetic.
It will probably all be removed either later today or in the morning.

You were lucky they knocked you out! It's a good feeling isn't it! No, I am sure what it was was the pressure from it being under your impacted wisdom tooth. I am sure you will be fine.

It doesn't sound likely. A cyst isn't cancer, a Tumor is however. (some cases anyways).
Cysts usually contain pus.

You should be fine. They always send things that shouldnt be there to the pathologist. I know its going to be hard not to but try not to worry.
