I fear I might have rabies from non-bite exposure?!

Question: I fear I might have rabies from non-bite exposure?
Really, I hate this. I know I most likely don't have rabies, but I am a major hypochondriac. This whole fear of rabies started two days ago when I was walking back from a friend's house around two in the morning. My parents have been warning me about a possibly rabid red fox that has been roaming around my neighborhood for the last several weeks or so. Anyway, as I approach my house, I am shocked to see a fox standing in my driveway. As it sees me, it darts behind someone else's house and into the woods and it was nowhere near me. I understand that it didn't bite me, but I keep fearing that it dropped saliva in my driveway and yard. And being the hypochondriac that I am, I keep fearing that its saliva somehow may of gotten into my body. I know its ridiculous, but I keep fearing that if by some crazy chance I did get rabies, then I can't be saved because no doctor would be willing to give me a shot and also I am way too embarrassed to even go to a doctor over this.

Answers:

You should see a doctor about this, first of all to rid you off the (highly irrational) current fear of rabies and secondly and most importantly to help you get help with this fear.

To set things in perspective, the risk of you getting rabies this way is probably equivalent to getting hit in the head with lightning a hundred times over. In one day (that is very small).

you cant get rabies from looking at a rabid animal it has to bite you or you have to eat infected flesh. the virus is also delicate it would be inactivated(dead) with in minutes of being exposed to the driveway, as long as you werent bitten by a rabid animal you cant get rabies. rabies is also incredibly rare in humans only 0-10 people in the US get it a year that means you're more likely to get killed by a shark, car or get killed by your own lawnmower.

You are fine. You cannot get rabies from a rabid animal unless it bites you and breaks through the skin.
