How Do I Help My Dad With Terminal Cancer?!

Question: How Do I Help My Dad With Terminal Cancer?
I just found out today my dads cancer is stage 4 and the doc's say he may only have a few months left :( If anyone has gone through this what should I expect? and how can I show the greatest support?

Answers:

First off, let him know how much you appreciate him and the things he's been doing for and with you. That will lessen his anxiety: he won't be worrying if he has done enough as a father.

Listen when he talks about his fears or anger or pain or hope or your childhood or whatever.

Pray with him if he wants, don't force him, but pray for him if you believe.

Always stay positive around him and if has to keep to a strict diet, try eating the same food with him.

Don't mind the stage4 label. My aunt was diagnosed with stage4 cancer 36 years ago and given 6 months to live. Now she's still strong, though still battling cancer. She's outlived two of her doctors.

Ignore the above... If he's stage four, there's not much that can be done. Love him and let him know this. There's not much anyone can do. I'm sorry!
