WHY do I keep dry heaving during races?!?!

Question: WHY do I keep dry heaving during races?!?
It's my first year running, but I did cross country season. And I always thought I just had eaten something bad or something like that and that I was holding in throw up, but TODAY, I learned from my friends about this thing called, "dry heaving" and I googled, and the descriptions are EXACTLY like what I do! I have no idea how to stop it. It ALWAYS slows me down before meets and I'm absolutely SICK of it. Please help!?!?!?!

Answers:

haha ok here's what you can do:
1. Don't listen to Kevin B. You don't need a ******* drug cause you feel like puking when you run. He's obviously never run a day in his life.
2. Take electrolytes. You might be drinking alot of water but that doesn't mean your body is really getting totally hydrated. You don't have to drink gatorade, you can make some iced tea or lemonade with raw sugar. The minerals in the sugar and tea or lemons will act as an electrolyte and hydrate you better.
3. Maybe you're just pushing yourself hard during races, which is good. Our bodies react differently when we run all out for 5k. Some people puke, some can't stand, some get dizzy, some can't breathe, etc. Be happy you're dry heaving instead of actually puking.

Well it needs time to stop. Yet what you can do now to reduce it is to drink water and you should also have regular meals with adequate carbohydrates to prevent being hypoglycemic. Eat healthfully and free yourself from stress and anxiety by engaging in relaxing activities.

dehydration...Gatorade/water (always replace your electrolytes)

You're dehydrated. Drink more water, and it'll improve a lot.
