When you eat a lot of sweets you risk to develop vitamin B1 deficiency. Diet high in carbohydrates and sugar requires more of the thiamin(B1) because it necessary for metabolism of carbohydrates.

Vitamin B1 deficiency is very common among kids and teens in America, because their diet contains a lot of sweet soft drinks, candies and other sweets and junk food.

Because of poor diet many kids today develop deficiency of B vitamins, including B1 deficiency which leads to loss of appetite, clouded thinking, inability to concentrate, poor memory, nervousness and weight loss.
