Salt.Neosporin... on cold sore?!

Question: Salt.Neosporin... on cold sore?
Last night half off my yellow scab fell off while I was asleep. Anyway I ended up taking the other half off cause it was barely hanging on. I put abreva on it and it is yellow scabbed over again.

I was told I could pick the scab put salt on it then neosporin on it to help go down quicker..... That sound okay to do. I'm worried about that salt stinging like hell.

Thanks!

Answers:

abreva helps, keep the area moist, neosporin is good. Salt will not kill the virus (cold sores are caused by the herpes virus) and will only irritate the skin. L-Lysine has been known to stop viral replication, ending the cold sore sooner, but the skin needs to heal.

No please don't use salt!!.Be kind to your skin..Let your skin heal and don't try to rush the process. You will make things worse and could scar your skin..You can apply honey directly on sore to help it heal and soothe it..A wet tea bag held on sore will help speed healing also..Salt is a really bad idea..Try the honey..:)

HAHA use salt!
