what is survival rate with invasive ductal carcinoma?!

Question: What is survival rate with invasive ductal carcinoma?
i was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma that might have spread to axillary lymph nodes, (maybe 2) what is average survival rate for this cancer?

Answers:

Hi there, your oncologist is the best person to give you any statistics once he/she gets your pathology report. However, I can say that it's certainly not a definite death sentence. I had invasive ductal carcinoma which one lymph node affected 18 months ago. I had a mastectomy, radiotherapy and an now on hormone treatment and apart from the side effects of all that treatment I have no problems connected to cancer. I am very optimistic of a long life from hereonin.

Good luck to you, it will all become clearer and easier once you know your path results and know what you need to do to get better.

You need to talk to your doctor about this. For one thing, I assume they'll clarify the spread to axillary nodes (this is part of staging). And then there are all sorts of other factors that influence your prognosis. This is the most common form of breast cancer, and there's a lot of variables to be considered.

I had a huge stage 3 case, 8 of 25 lymph nodes were affected. I had every treatment in the book and am fine, 3 years out. I'm 40 now.
Statistically I have a 67% chance of 5 year survival. Ask your doc or nurse for better, more accurate numbers. It is very survivable!

There is no such thing as an average survival rate. Survival rates are given in 5 year, sometimes in 10 years. In order to tell you we need to know your age, the stage, the grade and your hormone receptor status.

I am a cancer registrar.

My father had the same thing. He is a 14 year survivor. He did Chemo and Radiation, and it had spread to his lymph nodes as well.
