i have a cough that has lasted more than two weeks, and cough suppressants are i!

Question: I have a cough that has lasted more than two weeks, and cough suppressants are ineffective. what should i do?
A doctor prescribed benzonatate for my cough, and told me to use my inhaler as well. but neither are working. Day and night time robitussin have no effect as well. My cough started just over two weeks ago when i inhaled some dust, and only two days ago (after coming back from a trip to puerto rico) did i get a fever. the cough started going away when i had a fever, but now that my fever is gone, my cough is back. im not quite sure what to do, and im also wondering if dust inhalation would cause a cough to last this long. can anybody give me suggestions please? i would greatly appreciate it.

Answers:

If the cough suppressant and inhaler aren't working, it is time to bo back to your doctor.

Your cough can be caused by allergies. This time of the year there are a lot of allergens and dust in the air as all start blooming. Try antihistamine like Benadryl or store brand.
