herpes or coincidence?!

Question: Herpes or coincidence?
I am a 21 yeard old healthy male, about a week ago I had made a terrible mistake and had drunken sexual contact with a girl rumored to have herpes. I confronted her and she swears she doesn't but people around campus swears she does. Anyway 5 days after the contact I began to notice a slight reocuring pain around my upper left inner thigh. Other than that no burning, itching, bumps, or rashes are present. I didn't notice anything at all unusual looking about her genitals either.

A couple of points:
The 5 day incubation is right for a primary HSV-2 infection, but the location says no. Herpes viruses are mostly restricted to entry via mucous membranes. HSV-1 can cause skin infections (Herpes gladiatorum), but it requires significant contact with an active lesion and an abrasion in the skin.

I teach this stuff.

If you are infected and you get a blood test it will not show up yet it takes a while for herpes to show up in blood. They would have to actually get a sample from the sore itself. Some other symptoms of herpes are swollen lymph nodes and fever.
