Accuracy of herpes test? Testing negative after years of cold sore oubreaks?!

Question: Accuracy of herpes test? Testing negative after years of cold sore oubreaks?
I had been taking hash oil (oil extracted from marijuana) for two months now, and I went to the doctor to get blood work done to see if I had herpes I. As it turns out, they could not detect it in my blood. I don't know if I managed to get rid of the virus completely or if the test is faulty. I'm thinking of going to another lab to see what their tests say.

Answers:

They check antibody levels in your blood, and from my understanding, antibody levels can fluctuate over time. They may have checked it when your levels weren't high enough, the lab made an error, or you don't have it.

Oral herpes is typically on the junction between the edge of your lip and your face. Sometimes, other conditions can mimic herpes lesions. You can also get a culture of the lesion when you have an outbreak next time and that may be more accurate.
