Question: My boyfriend had Glaucoma when he was 10 will it every come back?
The doctors don't know how he got it that young, but whenever I ask him he starts to cry so I don't wanna bother him about it. :(

Answers:

Glaucoma is high pressure in the eye and can lead to blindness. It works very slowly, and can be treated to stop it. It can be treated with eye drops. There is no pain with the most common type so lots of people don't know they have it. There are several kinds, one is even genetic and can appear at birth, and you can develop it if you injure your eye. I had pigment dispersion glaucoma, which is very rare. The pigment (color) on the back of the iris actually flaked off. It's so unusual, that when I went to the optometry clinic at the local medical school, they brought in students to look at it. It was nearly 20 years before I needed drops to reduce my eye pressure. It stopped when I had the lenses replaced because of cataracts (unrelated condition).

Whether it can go away and come back without treatment is something only his doctor can tell him.
