Can Endometriosis turn in to cancer?!

Question: Can Endometriosis turn in to cancer?
I have endometriosis but it's not in a ideal place. I'm worried about surgery. If I don't have it would it turn in to cancer?

Answers:

From what my doctor has told me there is a higher risk that women with endo will develop ovarian cancer, but they are still looking in to it. From what I've been told by my doctor and other women not having the surgery will create more cysts, scar tissue and have a greater risk for infertility. I had surgery last year, I was only out for a about 3 weeks and thats because my cyst had ruptured. This article has some new research that they are looking into about the link between the two.

No, it will not turn into cancer. The main problem with endometrial implants is that they will hurt a lot and could affect fertility. But cancer isn't really a concern. Yes, women with endo MIGHT have a slightly higher risk of ovarian and endometrial cancer, but it's just a tiny bit more risk and has nothing to do with hether or not you have the implants removed.
