Do I have diabetes???!

Question: Do I have diabetes???
Hi. I'm 13 years old, and for a little while, I have been feeling some of the symptoms of type 1 diabetes, but recently, it has gotten worse. First off, I have been eating about 3x more than usual. During meals, I would eat my whole plate of food, and then I'd go back and eat the left overs. After that i would make myself like soup or something, and then have like 2-3 bowl of cereal. And i usually barely eat a plate of food. I am currently 80 lbs. I have been losing weight, drinking tons and tons of water (I'm always thirsty), and going to the bathroom frequently. I also have been feeling super tired and weak, even though I have been getting more sleep. I practically fell asleep in class today! The thing that worried me the most is that i get these dizzy spells, and i sometimes faint, but im out for only very short periods of time. I was walking up the stairs at school today and i got dizzy and fainted backwards, and someone caught me, and i woke up a few seconds later. Should i consult a doctor? Plz Help!!!

Answers:

Some common (and not-so-common) symptoms of type 2 diabetes include:

-Dizziness
-Thirst (Drinking a lot more than you did before... Not just a little)
-Itchy skin
-Cuts and bruises heal slowly
-Bluish tint to the base of the nails (This is also a symptom of poor circulation)
-Weight loss (In type 2 diabetes)
-Lethargy (weak, tired)
-Insomnia
-Unconsciousness

I would say definitely consult a doctor. The symptoms you have listed match those of diabetes, so you should get yourself checked out ASAP.

Good luck!

Well my friend has diabetes and she had the same symptoms so yeah i recommend you go to a doctor right away.

Good Luck

If you feel this way, call a doctor.

Good luck

My friend has diabetes and she's 14

You should go to the doctor and give them a urine sample to see if your spilling sugar, if your not it shouldnt be diabetes. If you are then get an A1C.

I doubt you have diabetes. But anyone who is so dizzy that they actually faint really needs to see a doctor!
Don't drink so much water, it isn't necessary. People who drink lots and lots of water can upset their electrolyte balance - that may be your actual problem. Try drinking some Gatorade or other sports drinks instead of only water. Also, make an attempt to ignore your thirst sometimes, your body doesn't need "tons and tons of water". Your water drinking may be a bad habit. I know that sounds odd, but it sounds like you are over doing the water.
Look up "aquaholic". That may be your problem.

I had very similar symptoms a few months ago but for me it just turned out to be anxiety. Definitely consult with your doctor though. You don't want to wait on that.
