10 points to first good answer..........?!

Question: 10 points to first good answer..........?
OK. I am going to post this in a couple pleaces here on YA, and I am hoping that someone can give me some help. But here is the deal.
I am a diabetic. But at the same time, I want to play bass guitar, which I am good at, but somehow, having to test many times a day, kinda makes your fingertips sore, They are ok and I don't mind on my right hand, but my chording hand's fingers are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sore.
I mean, I know that it takes time to build up the calluses, but surely other than tons of pain and suffering, there has got to be some kind of pain relief for diabetics. Does anyone know any tricks to help?

Answers:

Some prickers can take blood from your arm. Why don't you try those out?

I feel your pain (literally).

test on the fingers of the hand that you don't use to make notes on the fret board. Test on the fingers that you don't strum with either. Example: if you are right handed then you use your left for making notes on the frets, then you use your thumb and pointer finger to strum, for lack of a better word. So then test on the ring finger, middle finger, and pinkie of your right hand. Maybe you could even test on your toes.

For some reason, I only test on my left hand. If it's okay with your right hand, maybe you want to favor that one more. (I have calluses on my left hand). If you don't want to do that, you could test in other places, too.

Forearm is also an acceptable place to test from. But who knows, that might make you look like a heroine addict. :) Good luck.

type 1 diabetes

Do blood tests on your forearm, or palm or even your thigh. Talk to your doctor about alternative sites to test your blood sugar and be sure that your glucometer allows for it.

There's a reader for blood sugar that doesn't pinch ur fingers and its very accurate

i saw commercial on this testing device that doesnt take blood from the tip of ur finger...i forgot what its called but u should look around...

i use my toes sometimes or the sides of fingers
