Ears itch because of my earrings!!?!

Question: Ears itch because of my earrings!!?
Ok, well I usually wear gold earrings but then I stopped because I got tired of them. Then I got black stubs but they really itch! I don't want to stop wearing them because they look really cute! How can I make my ears stop itching?

Answers:

I have an allergic reaction to base metals. Are your "itchy" earrings anything other than surgical steel or solid gold or silver? If not, you probably have this allergy also. Unfortunately, all the cute earrings are cheapies, so what I do is use Benadryl Cream. Stick the post of the earring into the cream before you insert it in your earlobe. Rub cream into your lobes. It will reduce the itching so you can wear the earrings comfortably for almost all day. Don't wear cheap earrings for long, though. My ears got scabby from it. My friends laugh and say I have "caddilac ears". Some of us were just made for the good stuff! LOL Good luck!

I have the same problem. The thing is, are your earrings cheap ones from Claire's or someplace similar? If yes, then that's the problem. Cheap earrings like that are made of a really bad quality metal that tends to irritate your skin. The recommended metals that don't irritate your skin would be gold, silver, white gold, stainless steel, or surgical steel. If you don't want to get rid of your earrings, you can always cut off the wire part that you stick into your ear, and super glue on a stainless or surgical steel wire. I bought black studs at a flea market last year, and they turned my ears red and they oozed a yellowish white, so i changed the wire and it worked. Hope this helps :)

personal experience

I can tell you from experience that this means that you are having an allergic reaction to something in the material that they made the earrings with. I recommend perhaps taking them out at night or when you are around the house, that is how I get away with wearing a lot of my earrings even though if I were to wear them for only 24 hours straight my ears would get puffy and red. If you still get a reaction with them, you may be too allergic to wear them and should stick to Gold, Silver, or stainless steel.

Put some Peroxide of your ears, and if it doesn't help, then you can still wear the earrings, but they may still itch.. and if they do, then your probably allergic to them or your ears are sensitive for those types of earrings. Like, I can only use Gold earrings, cuz my ears are sensitive for any others. Hope this helped you. (:

You need to stop wearing them for long lengths of time..
Can only wear real gold studs, started wearing fashion earring, got 3 infections that closed up the holes in my ears, had to get the pierced several times since cos they keep closing.. I've learnt now to only wear them for a max time of 4hrs or they drive me mad..

:)

Try using a bit of antibiotic cream on the posts before inserting them. This may help, may not. You may be allergic to the base metal the earrings are made of (typically nickel).
