How do you get UTI's from sex?!

Question: How do you get UTI's from sex?
I'm a virgin and right now I'm going through a very mild case of a UTI (mild but it still sucks a lot). Anyway, I obviously don't want to get it again but I would like to have sex eventually once this is gone. I read somewhere that you should use the restroom before and after sex but I'm just wondering how women can get them just from having sex. Is it because the partner might be unclean? I don't really understand. Plus I've heard from a couple of girls that after they had sex for the first time it would hurt when they used the restroom.

Answers:

The best way to prevent UTI from sexual intercourse is to always go pee after sex.
It will generally always hurt after your first and couple first times of sex and this does not have anything to do with UTI.

No it's not because the partner is unclean. I don't know what causes a UTI, my guess is new bacteria being introduced, but I'm just guessing. But tips to avoid it: Don't wash that area with scented soaps, don't douche, use lubrication because they'll rub a sore in there if it's dry and that feels like a UTI, and drink plenty water and cranberry juice. I prefer cranberry pills, they are stronger than drinking a bunch of cranberry juice.
