Ingrown Toenail Question?!

Question: Ingrown Toenail Question?
Both of my big toes are ingrown on both sides. I've had them like this for about 3 years (I know, Unbelievable.) I'm a wimp and I'm terrified to get them fixed. My parents said that If i get them fixed all the doctor will do is give me a small shot in each big toe, which will numb them, then clip the nail somehow. Mine are deeeeeply impeded into the skin, and Clearly infected. My toes are swollen red and if i touch any part from the bottom of the toenail on up it's unbelievable pain. I just need to know, when they give me the shot in each toe, where Exactly do they give it? Because, if they give it anywhere from the bottom of the toenail up i may very well pass out, It's happened before when i stubbed it. Also, can you feel it while they're doing it? Desperately need good details. No websites please, Looking for personal experience. I'm only 14, also

Answers:

If you'll let your toenails grow out even a little bit you can clip (with nail clippers) a little v-shaped area in the middle of your toenail. This will cause your nail to naturally try to close that area and your nails will come out of those corners.

You might need to have the doctor fix them this time, if you do he'll put a tiny needle below your toe (if you look at your toe while you're lying on your back, it'll be on your foot). The medicine that they use to numb stings for just a bit and then you're numb. If you don't want to watch the doctor do the procedure, close your eyes ... or take a small blanket or even a hand towel and put it over your face. No one will think you're a baby, I promise. If you've had dental work when the dentist numbs your mouth, it's the same medicine.

I worked as a nurse for a zillion years!

they inject it at the base of the toe it completely goes numb after at least 1 min and you can feel it but it feels like a pinch
