Showing signs of Meningitis after the shot. Should I just sleep it off?!

Question: Showing signs of Meningitis after the shot. Should I just sleep it off?
Yesterday after noon, I got the Meningitis shot and started to feel weak.
This morning around 6 A.M my tongue started swelling really badly.
Around 8 A.M my tongue started forming bumps and It hurt to even talk.
So I went to the nurse and she gave me 60 ml of benadryl and I passed out

After 2 hours I woke up and I could feel that the swelling went down.
Right now I feel super weak, especially my arm hurts when I'm not touching
it.
Should I just go buy some benadryl or do you think I should visit a doctor?

Answers:

I think more benadryl will probably do the trick. I dare say you're *not* showing signs of meningitis-- you've just had an allergic reaction to the shot. Having said that, if you start feeling any *worse*, you should see a doctor.

I had to read this twice to decide that you're serious. You never presented with symptoms of meningitis. Vaccines don't give the disease they're meant to prevent.

"So I went to the nurse and she gave me 60 ml of benadryl and I passed out" -- You didn't "pass out", you fell asleep. Benadryl can do that.

"Should I just go buy some benadryl or do you think I should visit a doctor?" -- You could pick up some Benadryl just in case you have swelling again although I don't think you will. Give it another 2-3 days and if there's been no change in the way you feel, call your doctor to find out if you need to be seen.

I'm a nurse.
