ER neurology checking for dizziness?!

Question: ER neurology checking for dizziness?
Ok so yesterday I was
Sent to the ER because of recent neurological problems and the new symptom of severe dizziness. So they had neurology come down and since I was not dizzy at the time they were going to do a test to try to make me dizzy to get more information do they had me sit up o the bed with my head turned To either side an had me lay down quickly while having my head off the bed. The neurologist said it was important I look at him the whole time because he need ro watch my eyes.

So my questions are

What would that test for?

What reaction was he looking for in my eyes?

Thank you!

Answers:

He was trying to find out if these movements set off a bout of severe dizziness which would give him an indication of an inner ear problem called labrynthitis. You can go to WebMd.com and type in this term and read up on this condition. Meclizine or Antivert is often prescribed for this condition.
