Pancreatitis... How did anyone feel the first time they ate after being hospital!
Question: Pancreatitis... How did anyone feel the first time they ate after being hospitalized from having pancreatitis?
Answers:
Pancreatitis is known for the incredible pain. You mention alcohol consumption being the cause of your disease process, well at least you know, most people with this disease never find a cause although alcohol can be a factor for some not most.
Your physician should order your diet and guide you in the direction of medications and activity levels after hospital discharge. I am sure you signed your discharge instructions.
The levels that you mention for your labs are not the highest I have seen or heard, this however does not correlate with the pain, no matter the levels it can still hurt ( this is however a misconception) Time will determine if this happens to you again, since you have had more than one episode it could be that you have chronic pancreatitis. Abstinence from alcohol would be a great place to start, however there are no absolutes with this disease. Make sure that you stay away from food prepared in and with alcohol . I know the alcohol is suppose to burn off, although I can attest that it doesn't always happen. There are many fine yahoo groups that deal with the topic of pancreatitis and or chronic pancreatitis. The people who are members of these groups can share their experiences and give an ear to listen
