Possible Heart problems?!

Question: Possible Heart problems?
First off, I am 17 years old, and I have had no other major health problems in the past.

A few weeks ago, I randomly passed out in school. I went to the ER, where an EKG/Chest X-Ray were performed, and I was told I was fine.

All this week, I have had feelings of gas in my chest, particulary in the center of the chest. Over the past two days, I have had a numb feeling in my left arm. Likewise, my family has a history of heart disease. Could I be having any problems with my heart? Or is this possibly caused by stress? I really doubt that I would have a heart attack at 16, and I think having an EKG and Chest X-Ray 2 weeks ago would have found any eminent problems, but I am getting really nervous over this. Does anyone have any suggestions on this? Thanks!

Answers:

Ok, first of all, not every chest pain is caused by heart problems.
There are some important things in your case.
First of all, how is everything, are you feeling stress out?, do you have any major concerns that you think could be affecting you?. Stress can cause symptoms like this, you can feel really tired, sad, and you can have elevated heart rate sometimes, and chest pain.
Another important cause, because of your age is heartburn. The esophagus is a muscular tube that connects your mouth with your stomach, and sometimes, when there is a lot of stress, bad eating habits (a lot of fast food, not having 3 balanced meals a day, among others) the lower part of the esophagus tends to dilate causing the acid, who normally stays only in the stomach, starts to go up the esophagus. This can cause a burn-like feeling in your chest, but sometimes, it just feels like gas or something stuck behind the sternum, the bone you have in the center of your chest.
You have to be careful with this for a little time, try to learn if there are things that trigger this discomfort, if you experience any more symptoms, or if the symptoms you have now changes.
If you continue having this symptoms the best you can do is to go to your doctor for another complete checkup and a strict followup of your case.
Hope this helps.

I′m a Physician.
You can go to www.heart.org to learn more about heart conditions.

It could be that maybe it's anxiety if you have alot of stress going on, but I would get a second opinion.
