Best ways to stop nose bleeding?!

Question: Best ways to stop nose bleeding?
I just had a nosebleed for like an hour. I used to get them all the time, this is the first one i had in a long time though. one of my doctors told me i have a lack of phosphorus in my system, but yet i think its because i fell off the bleachers and landed on my nose when i was in high school.

Anyways some say to hold the bridge of the nose, or pinch the soft part. I usually hold the soft part, the bridge of my nose hurts otherwise, and look up or down? I look down because i dont want the blood to run down my throat. That would make me vomit. Soooo.... any sugestions? ----thanks!

Answers:

Pinch the nostrils together and lean forward slightly. You can also put an ice cube at the top of the bridge of the nose between the eyes. After about 10-15 mins, check and see if the bleeding has stopped. If it has not, go to the ER. If it has, dont blow your nose of suck air in hard thru it.

Uncontrolled nose bleed could be a sign of high blood pressure. The majority of nose bleeds are easy to control with the pinching and the ice. Again, if it dont stop, go to the ER.

You should start taking multi vitamins to appease your doctor....and your nose. Flinstone's Complete multis are excellent over-the-counter vitamins, and you don't have to swallow them. Be sure to check it for phosphorus.

As for the nosebleed, take a bag of ice, and place it on the back of your neck for fifteen minutes or until the nosebleed subsides. Hold a cloth under your nose to catch the mess while the ice takes effect.

Take care

A teacher gave me this tip.

Pinch your nostrils just under the bridge and lean your head forward slighty. Looking up will cause the blood to drip down your throat. The blood could then dry and cause you to choke.

Doctor told me when I kept getting nose bleeds.

You are correct, you are supposed to put your head slightly tilted forward with your nose pinched at the bridge.

I recently got a First Aid certification.

you are doing the correct thing by gently pinching the soft part of your nose, leaning forward and head down.
