can you use rubbing alcohol to clean a child's wound?!

Question: Can you use rubbing alcohol to clean a child's wound?
what is best to use to clean a child's wound?

Answers:

If its just a scratch, yes, if its a deep, flesh wound, take the child to the doctor. Rubbing alcohol can sting, but it also cleans, and disinfects the wound. I would also apply some antibacterial cream on it, and apply a band-aid.

The best is plain soap water. It does the job with minimal pain. Alcohol on a cut is excruciatingly painful.

50 years ago, parents treated kids cuts with tincture of iodine or merthiolate. I can STILL remember how much that hurt.

You can use plain soap and water. You can also use hydrogen peroxide--it will probably sting a lot less while still cleaning out the wound very effectively.

Of course, unless it's a deep wound.
Rubbing alcohol does dry out the skin though.
I recommend peroxide as well, but rubbing alcohol should be fine.

You can, but if you do, that child will never let you touch another wound again in the future!
