New lip piercing is infected, how do i cure it?!

Question: New lip piercing is infected, how do i cure it?
I got my lip pierced yesterday and when I woke up this morning my lip was swollen. I didn't think anything of it because I just got the piercing done and I figured a little swelling was normal. I've been using Crest Pro-Health mouth wash and salt water but it doesn't seem to be helping. The last time I went to clean the piercing, I washed my hands, grabbed my lip, and noticed that there was puss coming from the piercing from the inside. Im worried but I don't want to take it out. What do I do?

Answers:

My lip piercing drained (clear, yellow and whitish liquid) for months after it was done. It is hard for a mouth piercing to become fully infected, but not entirely impossible. So here is what you do.
1. STOP MESSING WITH IT!! This was hardest for me to do. Keep your hands off of it unless you have washed them thoroughly, we have no idea how much bacteria our hands harbor. Be mindful of that!
2. Clean the outside twice daily with antibacterial soap. You can use Q-tips 1 for applying the soap and 3 or 4 to rinse it off. Just be gentle.
3. Every time you eat (or smoke if you do) use mouthwash, this will lower your chances of it getting infected. Don't worry about mouthwash if you drink anything. Obviously we are trying to wash away harmful food born bacteria that can cause infection..
4. swelling for days is normal. Give it a month and see how it goes. Our bodies take time to heal, :-)

Well if its an INFECTION,and you tried to stop it,then go to the doctor. Your doctor should give you some type of medicine to cure it.

I once got a second piercing on my eay,and it got infected. Then i removed the earing, washed it,and never put the earing back again. So even though my infection got cured by some days, now i don't have a piercing there.

Try and leave it. It should be hard for infections as it's in your mouth full of saliva etc.
