Redbull before Colonoscopy?!

Question: Redbull before Colonoscopy?
I have a colonoscopy tomorrow and I am allowed to drink clear liquids that don't have red, green or purple coloring. Could some one who actually knows the right answer tell me and not just assume because it is yellow I can drink it?

Answers:

Based on the fact Red Bull is "yellow" and "clear" I would say yes. As for the way it will effect your vital statistics (heart rate, energy...) you may want to avoid it particularly if you opted for sedation. You may also want to be sure that Red Bull isn't going to thin your blood as you don't want to slow clotting time if they remove polyps. Red Bull might counter the effects of the sedative. You could be wide awake and very relaxed.

I have always opted-out of being sedated. One time I consumed pulp-less margaritas after chugging the Fleet Phospha-soda laxative (very salty) as the salt substitute. It seemed like a good idea until the Patron was still burning most of the way through the empty stomach and colon. I knew I wasn't going to be sedated so I didn't worry about the alcohol mixing with drugs. In hind sight, it wasn't my brightest idea as alcohol can thin the blood. Also even pulpless Margarita mix isn't totally clear; so, I haven't done that again.

No RED BULL!!!

You can have water. You can also have the clear liquid that is given to you on prescription which has salts, electrolytes etc in it but you must stop drinking this a certain number of hours, either four or six hours before going into theatre. After that only moisten your mouth with water. This is so that your intestines are all clear for inspection.

I know that it is not pleasant. If you have any questions you should ring the surgery where the procedure is going to be carried out and ask if it is not stated clearly on the instructions that come with the mixture that you have to drink before the procedure. This should have been explained to you long before now. No RED BULL!!!

Personal Experience!!!

When I had a colonoscopy a year ago I could only have liquids that contain sugars and salts. Then that means no for red bull

Should be fine. It's yellow.
