Blackheads and whiteheads, known as comedones, can be more numerous on the face and shoulders than red bumps filled with pus. Good, consistent skin hygiene can help improve this condition. Therefore, knowing more about what causes comedones and how to treat them is a step towards clearer skin.

The key to skin care for acne is consistency. An overnight cure has not been found. But using good skin care methods aids in the daily, steady improvement of follicle health. Since acne is not caused by eating certain foods, restricting the diet is not helpful. Since it is also not caused by "dirty" skin, excessively scrubbing does not help and can even make the skin more irritated.

The best skin care for comedones consists of once-a-day cleansing with a mild soap or facial scrub to aid in the removal of excess sebum and dead skin cells. Oil-based makeup should not be used since these can contribute to the buildup of oil in the follicles. Water-based makeup labeled as non-comedogenic can be used safely.

A physician can also prescribe tretinoin (Retin-A), isotretinoin (Accutane) as well as topical or oral antibiotics. Once again, these must be used as directed. How to treat blackheads is made much easier with a device called a comedone extractor. You should first clean your face and hands. Then you will place the small rounded end of the device so that it surrounds the blackhead and then press gently. The pressure will force the oily residue out of the skin pore.

Many people have removed blackheads when they use facial washes or masks that are concocted from either limes or lemons. Just squeeze the juice from 1 lime or lemon and pour it through a strainer. Wash your face with a mild soap and then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Next you should use cotton balls to apply the citrus juice to the blackhead prone areas. Let the juice remain for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. The natural acids in these citrus fruits have natural astringent qualities. The juice will deeply cleanse the skin while toning and tightening the pores.

Honey is a soothing skin treatment and a natural moisturizer. Many people find that it is very effective when used in a natural skin regimen that is aimed at removing blackheads and improving the texture and look of the skin. You can use ? cup of honey each night as a facial mask. Wash your face, and then apply the honey evenly to the surface of your skin. Leave in place for 20 minutes and then wash your face thoroughly with warm water.

Never squeeze blackheads! They are the ones that scar, so be very careful. I think the best thing you can do here is book an appointment with your dermatologist so they can analysis is in person. Apart from that you should highly consider adopting a healthy diet and making sure your own personal hygiene is up to scratch as blackheads form from oil, dust and bacteria on the skin.

It you wear make-up make sure you are washing it off PROPERLY each night (do not use things like baby wipes as they only push dirt and bacteria further into the pores of your skin), get some good make up removing lotion!

You may also want to consider not wearing make-up for a whole month to detox your skin from dirt. Make sure the pillow you sleep on is clean!

Pimples and blackheads are caused by dirt and oil blocking pores in the skin. The best way to prevent acne is by washing your face. You also can take some herb tea.

If the face washes does not have an effect for you, i suggest you stop the use it.
