I don't think so. I am a type A- and I've got plenty of blood to donate. Just because of your post I will be donating to save 2 live + yours. ;) Try looking up the web site of your local blood center they usually post on their web site what type of blood supply is running low. People often see it and will be kind enough to go donate if supply is low.

Our small blood bank always has A neg on the shelf. Sometimes there are 50 units, sometimes 10. It's always available from other blood banks in the system in other cities and can be flown in quickly if needed.

If you rounded up at least twenty donors one of them should be A Neg. 6% of The US population is A neg

what did they say you need the donor for? If you can't find a blood donor with A-, look for someone with blood type O. Look or request for type O- even though they are hard to come across. Explore your options. Be sure to check out the american red cross website as well.
