I'm 16, my blood pressure is 140 over 102...?!
Question: I'm 16, my blood pressure is 140 over 102...?
Answers:
First, were you sitting quietly for at least 10 minutes before taking your blood pressure. Second, an isolated high reading does not mean you have high blood pressure. If you have a blood pressure kit at home, taking your blood pressure first thing in the morning while sitting on the side of the bed before getting up to go pee will give you your baseline blood pressure against which you compare all other blood pressure readings. And, if this blood pressure is taken in the afternoon, your blood pressure naturally increases in the afternoon and evenings. If you are overweight, your blood pressure might run high and working with your doctor on lifestyle changes, daily exercise first would be appropriate. Then, if your blood pressure continues to run high after making changes, it might be time for medications.
