i am diabetic and have been for more than 15 years. I started getting a feeling of ice cold feet 4 years ago. Takes forever for me to warm them up. My sugars are mainly high due to anxiety. What can i do to control my sugars?

Answers:

If you're experiencing high blood sugar levels on a daily basis, that is definitely not good for your long-term health.

High blood sugar is like syrup in your blood. Think about how long it takes for you to pour out a bottle of honey or pancake syrup. Long time just to empty the bottle huh? Well imagine your blood with the same consistency, real thick. So your blood has a hard time flowing to your extremities, especially your feet so you're getting poor circulation/blood flow. That is bad, because if it happens over a period of time it might cause nerve and muscle damage which can result in amputation. Wear diabetic socks to help with circulation. And focus on controlling your blood sugar levels

It's very important to keep your blood sugars under control. Whatever it is that's causing your anxiety, find a way to calm yourself down and not be involved.

Eat fiber with your meals and dash a cinnamon with your drinks
Exercise at least 30 minutes a day (brisk walking) - consult a doctor about this since you experience high blood sugar levels.
Stick with a low-carb diet, learn to count carbs - this will do you wonders.
Test your blood sugars before meals and two hours after to compare what you're eating to you blood sugar values.
It's important to talk to a Dietitian and Doctor about this - they could make better recommendations.

Elevated blood glucose interferes with proper blood circulation and can injure capillaries and blood vessels over time if not controlled. You need to follow the advice of your doctor and nutritionist and study up on the disease. There are several good books out on how the control or even reverse type 2 diabetes. Julian Whitaker wrote one that you can find on Alibris.com.
Good luck. Don't wait until permanent injury has occurred!
