Answers:

1. Getting bitten in the back or a feeling of being bitten in the back doesn't sound at all like sleep paralysis. You either were getting bitten, or you had a painful muscle spasm in the night.
2. Sleep paralysis comes and goes. I had it a lot before I got on CPAP now I have it once or twice a year. Nobody can predict, but likelihood is you will have another episode at some point. A year or a decade can't be predicted.
3. It occurs most when you have a low flow of oxygen or exhausted or have gone to bed drunk/high. Don't put the covers over your head and treat your apnea if you have it. Get 8 hrs sleep and don't go to bed too late, and don't overindulge in alcohol or drugs. Still, it could happen again.
4. See above. It isn't actually dangerous in any way, just scary. If you are used to it happening, it stops being scary, and it can actually be kinda cool if you go with it.

1. Yes, probably.
2. Not necessarily, the frequency of sleep paralysis can be highly irregular.
3. There's not much you can do, as far as I know no known prevention exists. There are of course home remedies that you can try but don't expect too much and don't do anything stupid or harmful.
