Randomly increasing heart rate?!

Question: Randomly increasing heart rate?
So the other day I was comforting a friend, and while she was crying on me she noticed that my heart was beating very quickly. I have no idea why this would be happening as I was in a very calm, relaxed mood and wasn't anxious or uncomfortable in any way, and it's not because I was nervous being around her, she's just a friend. Several minutes later we noticed that my heart had returned to beating normally. Can anyone offer any suggestions for what may've been happening?

A little medical history. I'm a 17 year old male, 6'1'', about 145 lbs or so, and have no pre-existing medical conditions like asthma or anything like that.

Thanks a lot.

Homer Simpson,
This is termed as an ‘arrhythmia’ which is the medical term that indicates an irregular beat or beats of the heart. Most people will occasionally feel their heart skip a beat, or give an occasional extra strong beat, neither of these is usually a cause for alarm. If it recurs on a regular basis, you should be examined by a doctor. You state that you were not anxious, nervous or uncomfortable at all. Is there a possibility that, with your friend being female, that you might have been a little ‘aroused’ by her being so close to you, which would increase your pulse rate?
