Chest pain, but what kind?!

Question: Chest pain, but what kind?
My chest has been feeling like, a muscle tear. I know that's not what happened, but to give you an idea its like that or light sharp pain in the entire center. To answer probable questions. I haven't worked out in a week but I did on a regular basis, nothing extravagant just a little weight lifting, treadmill, and basketball. (So I'm doubting it is a muscle injury). I have been eating normally, sleeping well, and drinking plenty of water. (I don't know if it is possible but I have had a load of stress hit me lately and started lightly smoking, though I have been off and on for awhile but not to a terrible degree at all, though it is never good, I do mean very light). So to sum it all up, nothing abnormal in my daily life compared to previously not having the chest pain, the chest pain itself starting from the center (and increases when i slightly lean forward for some reason but not when I inhale), and the stress. If anyone could sum up a diagnosis or have any idea or even the same problem, please post and tell me what may be occurring. Oh, and I also had a previous and very strenuous cough for about a month; however, I haven't had it in 2-3 weeks so I doubt that could be it but just throwing it in there.

- I realize that 50% to all of the comments may be, see a doctor, please leave obvious comments out, if I could have I would, but to those who do help and maybe give me an unorthodox solution I truly appreciate all and any help!

Answers:

Roughly in order of increasing seriousness:

Acid indigestion (reflux, heartburn)
Broken Rib(s)
Heart Disease
Pulmonary Embolism
Heart attack

Yes, obviously you should see a doctor. None of these things can be solved on your own, except the reflux (fix the diet) and the broken rib (they usually just heal themselves over time.)

Been there...done that!
