I have used a diastix and its shown up dark brown?!

Question: I have used a diastix and its shown up dark brown?
I have had PCOS for years now and my eating habits have always been really bad. I have definate insulin resistance for ages as well. I am incredibly overweight with a BMI or 45 or so. Well for a while now my urine has been smelling sweet and if I dont eat I always feel funny. My parents and grandparents had type 2 diabetes. I am so sure I have it now as I used a diastix and it detected high amounts of sugar.

What do I do now? How do I know how much damage I have done to myself?

Also, I need to loose weight, I know that, so I have had a vegetable smoothy this morning. I feel all dizzy and light headed but if I got type 2 diabetes, wouldnt that mean I have lots of glucose in my system? Why do I feel faint? I thought thats only for low levels of sugar.

Educate me please

Maya , you probably are diabetic. This is not a game . You have had Insulin resistance for a long time and have done nothing about it. What is your problem. Maybe you would like Dialysis , or your legs or feet amputated. How about a hewart attack.A seeing eye dog ????

Here is what you must do: and stop the denial , or anger which will lead to depression. And for you , none of the following is Negotiable

There are 4 key steps to controlling glucose levels :

1) EXERCISE- Walking is fine but Nordic Walking is Great. Exercise also lowers Glucose levels , lowers Cholesterol and lowers Blood Pressure. Google it.Exercise is Non-Negotiable !!!Thats why it is Number 1 on the list.
2) Knowledge- http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/index.ph… This is a great site for info
3) Meds. Metformin to start. Never , ever take Actos or Avandia. They may kill you. Bone fractures, heart problems and what diabetics really don't need is that they change Bone Stem Cells to Fat Cells. Also never ever take Onglyza or Januvia . They can can inhibit the bodys immune system and let cancer spread.
4) Diet- A low carb diet is in order. I can't count carbs so I use Mendosa's Glycemic Index Diet. Great for the whole family. http://www.mendosa.com/gilists.htm

Google Nordic walking . I use plain ol' wooden sticks. Great exercise for heavy weights.

In the above I do not mean to be mean. It's just this disease requires Attitude and Dedication.
And I sure hope you can handle it . This is for life..!!!!

Take care
