Amoxicillin question.?!

Question: Amoxicillin question.?
Okay im 17 years old and i was prescribed amoxicillin and lohist for what i have. And for two days now i've had diharrea..my mom said amoxicillin can cause this. Also its not watery diharrea. Is there anything i can eat with it or take to reduce the diharrea? And i was told that its common to get diharrea while on amoxicillin. Thanks in advance.

Answers:

You can eat a container or two per day of yogurt which will help with this. Expect the diarrhea to go away 2-3 days after finishing the antibiotic.

You are having loose stools. Antibiotics are well known for certain side effects: Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, rash, loose stools and/or diarrhea. Just ask your mom to check with your doctor and make sure you can take an OTC anti-diarrheal. But since you're just having loose stools and not watery diarrhea and since you're not going to be on amoxicillin forever or even long-term, you could just put up with it for the short-term. You can increase the fiber in your diet to give your stools more form and bulk.

Its very common to get diarrhea and stomach upset from any antibiotic. Taking probiotics helps. Go to the pharmacy and ask for a product called Florastor or Flora-Q. Its expensive but works best. Or you can ask for generic Acidophilis capsules, they're very cheap and still work for some.

Yes, increase the fiber in your diet.
Fruits with the skin
