Please help! I'm scared!!!?!

Question: Please help! I'm scared!!!?
I'm having an upper GI test tomorrow. I was wondering will they sedate me or will they keep me awake. I'm also having a colonoscopy during the upper GI. If they do keep me awake will I feel them biopsy my stomach (they did tell me they would numb we but never said anything about sedating me). I'm also 13 and seeing a pediatric gastroenterologist. Thanks so much!

Answers:

They sure as heck better not keep you awake!!! If they do that means your doctor is NOT up on the latest sedation techniques and the office or hospital it is being done at isn't either!! That would scare the heck out of me! NO ONE should EVER have to do either of those awake or alert in this day and age!!!!
When I had my upper, I had valium to make me relaxed, then I got Versed right as they wheeled me back into the endoscopy area. I was out like a light and didn't remember a thing!
The only thing that you need to be sure you have at home waiting for you is herbal tea and lots of honey and TYLENOL (not advil or anything like that) to help with your sore throat afterwords.
If you are that nervous, call over there and ask!! There is NO reason for them not to explain everything to you before the test, honestly! What did they think you were going to do just hippity hop, tra lala into the op room?? Please call the office and ask to speak with a nurse about what is going to happen, you will be a better patient with your fears relieved!

its ok but if they do keep you awake you will feel them doing there thing but you wont feel anything at all but but sedating im not so sure fyi while if your nervouse during the time when there done you will be reall tired

Why in the world are you not asking your doctor this question instead of a bunch of strangers in cyberspace who are mostly not doctors?????????????????????????????????… Get real.

i dont know, but jeez if this were me i wud b terrified! good luck chica- your so brave!!! :) <3
