what is atherosclerosis?!

Question: What is atherosclerosis?
I have a hardening of the biracial artery at my right elbow. It is painful. What could cause that?
I often have blood drawn from that location. Would it be scar tissue?

Answers:

Atherosclerosis is the the accumulation of plaque inside blood vessels (arteries). Plaque is made up of fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances found in the blood. Over time, it builds up and hardens. This narrows the arteries and begins to block the flow of blood and oxygen to parts of the body that are affected by the blockage. This can lead to serious problems, including heart attack, stroke, or even death.

You would have to be checked out by a doctor to determine if your elbow pain is from atherosclerosis or another cause. It could be a pinched nerve or a bone spur.
