Will there ever be a cure for cancer?!

Question: Will there ever be a cure for cancer?
By the very nature of cancer, it is physically possible for there to be a 'cure' as such?

Answers:

The first three paragraphs of my answer are a copy and paste of the answer I gave to a similar question a few minutes ago. The rest is in response to the 'more profit in cancer than in a cure' type answers.

While there's no guaranteed cure for any type of cancer, cancer is actually cured all the time on an individual basis. Did you know, for example that 70% of children with cancer are cured of it? We'd all rather it was 100%, of course; But 70% is a very far cry from 'no cure'.

Testicular cancer, Hodgkin's disease, and many cases of leukaemia can all be cured in adults with chemotherapy, most skin cancers are cured with surgery, and many cases of thyroid cancer and cancer of the larynx are cured with radiotherapy. And many other types of cancer are also cured if they are found early enough

The problem with finding a 'cure for cancer' is that cancer is hundreds of diseases, not just one. The difficulty is that different cancers are caused by different things, so no one strategy can prevent them all, and different cancers respond to different treatments so no one treatment can cure them all. There will never be a magic bullet that cures all cancer.

The idea that a secret cure is being hidden, or that no cure is being sought, for reasons of profit, doesn't hold water. Think about it...

If there were a hidden cure, thousands of people would have to have been cured by it (otherwise how would they know it worked?). All those people would be keeping quiet about it too – not a word to the media from any of them either.

I don't think it would be bursting anyone's bubble to hear that drug companies are in it for the money - so why would they not be trying to find a cure, or be keeping quiet about an existing cure even though it would bring them fame and fortune? Any drug company discovering a cure for even one type of cancer would make far more money than they can have dreamed of making up till now.

Doctors, scientists, researchers and members of governments would be watching their relatives die and dying themselves (they and their families develop cancer at the same rate as the rest of the population; ) rather than revealing the secret cure or cooperating in trying to find one

Most unlikely of all, every medical professional in the whole world would have agreed to keep existence of any current of future cure secret. Every single one. One blabbermouth, one disgruntled researcher or sacked nurse and the whole conspiracy’s blown.

I live in the UK; we don't pay for our medical treatment, including cancer treatment. Cancer treatment costs our government untold billions - no fortunes being made there. Yet we have the same treatments as the rest of the world - no miracle cure has been revealed in order to save money.

Existing treatments aren't perfect - very far from it. One day people will look back on them with horror. But they are all we have at the moment, and we know, because they have been tested and proven in double-blind clinical trials, that they save many lives and prolong many, many more.

So, the answer to your question: There will never be a Eureka! moment when a single substance or procedure is discovered that will reverse all types of cancer. Rather there will be steady, sometimes slow, progress - an improved treatment here , a way to reverse one type of cancer there, a way to prolong more lives.

Modern medicine has made good strides in therapy of cancer.
Stem cell is latest and bringing hope for very good result in future.
Still CURE is not term we can say in cancer today, almost normal long remission is the aim.
The factors to be solved and deciding in cancer patient.-

The location of the Cancer - Cancer found on internal, vital organs is very difficult to get rid of, because it makes surgery to remove the cancer difficult. Often surgery is not even an option, as removing large pieces of a vital organ will not be possible. Cancers on the skin and extremities are typically easier to get rid of.

The the age of the patient - Younger people simply have more endurance at which to throw at the cancer. They also have stronger immune systems, which is key in many cancer cases because a patient becomes particularly susceptible to infection while undergoing Chemotherapy.

How far the cancer has spread through the body - Cancer has stages. At the lowest stages, the cancer is rather localized to the initial tumor. In the later stages, the cancer has spread to several organs, and has become very dangerous. The later stages do not come on all at once, it typically takes years for cancer to progress.

Cancer is a collective term for approximately 200 different diseases. Every cell type in your body can (in principle) develop into its own type of cancer. So it is not all that surprising that we don't have a single cure for all cancers.

That being said, many cancers are cured on a daily basis. Most of them through surgery, but some of them are treated with additional radio-/chemotherapy. And some cancers are cured by chemotherapy alone.

And there are lots of reasons why the establishment really want to find a cure. Here are some of them:
1) Owners/employees (And their love ones) of pharmaceutical companies suffer from cancer too.
2) Researchers wouldn't be able to keep their mouth shut if they found a miraculous cure or even a major breakthrough.
3) Progress in cancer treatment is happening even though not as fast as we all would like to. Some cancers are even easily cured.
4) Pharmaceutical companies wouldn't lose money for finding a cure - They would increase their income considerably.
5) Also members of governments (and their love ones) sometimes get cancer

On the internet there are many claims of miraculous "natural" cancer cures. Here some of them are listed, with links to sites explaining what is wrong with them: http://anaximperator.wordpress.com/2011/…

even if there was a cure I am not sure if the government would like that. There is is a lot more money to be made it medicine and treatments. They don't really care if you get better as long as it benefits them

A cure, as in one cure for the hundreds of different cancers... No there will not. It ain't a common cold, which has no cure either.

i had brain cancer

well if there was, how will the world control the population?
