Could I have diabetes?!

Question: Could I have diabetes?
This is a serious question, so please, if you aren't going to give serious answers, leave.

I am a 15 year old female. Recently, I've been experiencing quite a few of the symptoms of diabetes. I'll list those symptoms now:
- Frequent urination: This is a new symptom. I never used to use the restroom this much, but lately I've been going at least 7 times a day. It's only when I drink water, though.
- Fatigue: I am almost always at least a little bit tired. But this could also be because I do not sleep well at night. (I haven't been able to sleep well at night for a very long time.).
- Shakiness in my hands, and feelings of weakness: Sometimes, I'll just be sitting here, and all of the sudden I start feeling really bad. I get lightheaded, and I begin to shake, as well as feeling weak. My heart beat speeds up, then slows down. Sort of like i'm having a panic attack or something.
- Blurred vision: My vision isn't blurry a lot, only sometimes. when it's blurry, I can still read and see things perfectly fine, it's just got a blur to it.
- Hunger: I'm always hungry. I believe that is due to me being bored all of the time, though. When i'm bored, I tend to eat. I'm not really worried about this symptom, as it only occurs when i'm bored and have nothing to do. (I know, it's stupid).

So those are the symptoms. I've read that diabetes mainly run in the family. Only one of my family members have diabetes, and that's my mom's Dad. He's not really blood related, though, as he was only her step-dad. Apart from him, no one has had diabetes.
I'm NOT overweight. I know a lot of the time, diabetes occur in overweight people, but not all the time. I'm 5'5 and I weigh 120 pounds. So as you can see, I'm a normal weight for my age and height.

I've talked to my mom and she said that it could just be because of my age. (Having to do with me growing and maturing and stuff like that, but I don't really think it's normal for this to happen, seeing as my sister didn't go through this when she was my age)

So should I get tested for diabetes? Does it sound like I have diabetes? I'm really worried, and i need a way to convince my mom to take me to the doctor if you think that I could have diabetes. thank you in advance for reading this whole thing, I know it's long, but I really just want to know.

Answers:

Each of us is a very unique individual. Even twin sisters can have totally different problems with turning into women! You cannot base anything on what your sister went through.

I don't think you have diabetes, but I do think you need to see the doctor for complete physical including blood draw.
1. urination - this would be every 15 minutes or so!
2. thirst - totally cotton mouth with still drinking gallon of water and still thirsty dry mouthed.
3 blurry vision - ALL the time
4. you are a teenager, and it goes with the territory.

Go.to.the doc

Here's what I would do, partly because its easy and partly because I'm a Jew.

Find someone, anyone you know that has diabetes. Ask them to get a new lancet for their pricker. Lancets come in boxes of like a billion so they can spare one. Put the new sterile lancet in the pokey pricker and ask them to hit it. If your blood reading is anything other than 110 (give or take maybe 5) then I would see a Dr.

If you can, do it when you're feeling most woozie and do it more than once, like a few hours or days apart. I did it at work the other day because I was wondering that same thing. If a cheepskate so I figured what the hey?
