80% blockage of cardioid artery, how soon should he have surgery?!

Question: 80% blockage of cardioid artery, how soon should he have surgery?
Answers:

Do you mean "carotid artery"?
Benefits of endarterectomy are greater than those of stenting. A 2010 study found benefits (reduced strokes) from carotid endarterectomy in those without symptoms who are under 75.
Carotid endarterectomy (CEA) is a surgical procedure used to prevent stroke, by correcting stenosis (narrowing) in the common carotid artery. Endarterectomy is the removal of material on the inside (end-) of an artery.

That I'm afraid is a question that cannot be answered with any degree of safety on a place like Yahoo or any other question and answer forum.
We do not know any of the medical history, the state of the other carotid artery or even the persons age.
This will be better discussed with the patients doctor where all pros and cons can be weighed up.

I am sorry we cannot help but in reality you are talking to a bunch of strangers who know nothing at all except what you tell them.

When and if the surgery takes place I do hope all goes well.
