How can I get these white patches (from rashes) to go away and be the same shade!

Question: How can I get these white patches (from rashes) to go away and be the same shade as the rest of my body?
Hi,
Well, a while ago I used to have eczema. It was during the summer so the spots where I had the rashes didn't tan, while the rest of my body did. When the rashes cleared, I was left with unsightly whiter patches on the insides of my elbow and all over the back of my legs. It looks terrible, so I talked to my doctor. She said it will eventually go away, but I should try to put sunscreen everywhere except the spots. Made sense.

So, I've been doing that for FIVE YEARS and I still have them!!! It looks SO BAD I just want an even skin tone! I am super conscious about wearing shorts or a bathing suit which I would otherwise look fine in. So, the next time I went to the doctor I asked her about it, and told her it wasn't going away. She just kinda said "Oh. Yeah. It's probably gonna show up more in the summer."

Like, seriously? It doesn't just show up in the summer, it's also visible in the winter (just not AS visible. It's REALLY REALLY bad in the summer). Long story short- I'm TIRED of this, it looks ridiculous, and I was wondering if there was anything I could do? :(

My friend's sister had this and it just eventually faded for her. Also, to rid the rashes I was using Elidel. I don't get them on my legs anymore but I still get a few mild ones on my arm every now and then and use Elidel. Is there anything I can do that will even out my skin tone? I'm desperate here! :(
I don't want to live the rest of my life looking like this just because of some stupid rashes from when I was 8.

Thank you very much for any advice you might have.

I can deffinitly relate, except mine are scars and are purple/red in color and are more like a bunch of little dots all over my legs and arms. I've tried self tanner as well and the scars actually get DARKER with it so it doesn't help. Have you seen a dermatologist? I'm about to see about going to one for this. I've heard their are scar treatments with lazers or other things that can fade it. Maybe they can do something for you? Hope you find a solution!

We have the same issue, I thought it was only me. Mine def isn't as bad as yours, I only have two spots on each of my arms. Maybe try some self tanner to cover up the spots. I haven't tried anything yet, because it's obviously not summer and I haven't tanned yet. Mine look like giant white scars in a way. I think the idea with putting sunscreen everywhere except those spots sounds like a good idea, I'll probably have to try it. But give the tanning lotion a try, not the stuff you put on before you go in the sun, but the stuff you rub on yourself and it's like an insta-tan. Like a lotion. Best of luck!
