How do I know if I have bowel cancer?!

Question: How do I know if I have bowel cancer?
I'm really not looking forward for the answers but I feel like I am in need of help. For the past few months I have been getting a lot of blood on the tissue when I go to the toilet, mostly on the tissue with each swipe. But last I went to toilet, I mean only about 2 hours ago it was really bloody. Kind of like a raspberry colour, but I ate a whole pack of raspberry the day before so I thought this was the reason. Also I have this lump at the end passage as well which have been there for few months too, haven't told my parents yet because I'm too embarassed. I had this before when I was 15/16 years old which was sore everytime I sat down but disappeared few weeks after, now it's back!! I don,t know what it is but it's not painful as it did first time but it's quite big, think of it like 3 peas put next to each other. Plus I know that my diet isn't healhty because I eat too much meat and fatty foods, there's nothing stopping me from eating fruits and veg but since I'm Filipino we always eat rice and meat( as in everyday) but I'm wondering if cutting out meat consumption would help to prevent anymore complications?Buying fruit and veg that is required for everyday diet also to us, seemed like a money waste because we all have big appetite. I don't exercise much so I don't get why I'm not obese OR fit as both my brother and sister are in good shape but eat same food as me!! I'm 19 now about 5.9ft and weigh 9 stone.. Pls I need help I'm too embarrases telling my parents.

Hi, I've had bowel cancer, so I've a pretty good idea of what to look for etc

Firstly, to me it doesn't sound as if you have bowel cancer. This what you're describing sounds like you have a couple of what they call piles....these are veins around your back passage that have been strained, usually by you being constipated and straining too much to go to the loo. Sometimes these can bleed, and this is what you see on the tissue. If the blood is normally bright red, then it would be coming from lower down in your rectum. It's when it is a very dark red colour, accompanied by pain, bloating, even trapped wind or just feeling uncomfortable, that you ought to be seeing a doctor pretty quick!

I would advise you to see a doctor anyway....whatever this is needs clearing up. You already know your diet isn't good, so you are already at risk of bowel problems anyway...so I'm not going to nag you any more!!

Please make an appointment as soon as you can, it will put your mind at rest about what it is, and also stressing yourself out is not going to help matters one little bit. You are extremely young for it to be bowel cancer (although not unheard of) but, even in the worst case scenario....say it is cancer - the quicker you get it looked at and sorted the better. I was lucky - they picked mine up in time - but only because I went to the doctors and went back again after an initial diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome, because the symptoms weren't getting any better.

Please see the doctor - yes, bit embarrassing.....but what's a bit of embarrassment when it could potentially save your life??

The lump is more likely to be haemorrhoid's (piles) due to your lack of fibre in your diet - these burst and cause bleeding - but you still need to see the doctor.

Go to a doctor. Ur nineteen(in legal age), u can go on ur own without telling that to them.
