Can The Flu kill you if..?!

Question: Can The Flu kill you if..?
Okay, so I recently picked up the flu. No clue as to who I had gotten it from but I was honestly wondering, if not treated in time or not treated at all could it kill you? I have been asking several people. I went to the doctors on Monday thinking it might be appendicitis but the blood work and MRI's came back negative. So I was thinking maybe it was a virus or the flu but they hadn't said anything when I was there?

If you know if it could kill you, or anything please I would like to hear about it. I know it could spread and turn into a pneumonia or whatever but not sure if it could kill you.

Recently my symptoms include this-

Dizziness
Stomach Pains
Headaches
Chills
Fatigue
and many more things.

The pains in my stomach have increased in the past week I would just like to know if I should seek medical attention or not?

you are already dead & can't read this.

there is no way to treat the flu, it is a virus. antibiotics only help against bacteria. take tylenol for fever and pain.

Yes, people do die from the flu. My aunt died from it, she was old and unhealthy in general and extremely overweight. The weaker older people, and the very young have more occurrences of dealth. The flu weakens your body and leaves you open to a secondary infection if you don't take care of yourself. So if you have the flu, stay home, get a lot of rest and force fluids. I just had the flu for 6 weeks, thought I was going to die.

unless you are severely immunocompromised, as in HIV or AIDS, are elderly or very young, it isn't going to kill you altho you probably feel so bad it seems like it will. make sure you are hydrated - drink things like gatorade or 7-up. take something for the fever if you have one and most importantly--REST! it will take a while but you will start to feel better.

If you are elderly or an infant , have lung disease or a weak immune system you could die from the flu. . Thousands die from different forms of the flu yearly . Most people are not hospitalized and just stay home and let the symptoms naturally run their course. They take medications to ease the symptoms not to cure the illness.....................

It kind of sounds like H1N1; but don't worry, it's curable now. My sister has had it recently.

Its branches sure can, though;
Pneumonia, like you stated, can be fatal is not caught and treated early. I myself have suffered from it once and I needed two surgeries; without those, my lungs would collapse.
Bronchitis is also another branch of the flu - which I have also had - and can be fatal is not treated. Your airways could get so clogged you could suffocate. Your airway could also be permanently infected with bacteria.
Both can cause permanent lung damage such as scarring.

The flu itself can kill you if it has reached that degree of severity. I know that is can also cause lung damage. I heard that if you catch it too many times, your lungs will become beleaguered and unable to function properly, leading to death.
