if i have diabetes then what?!

Question: If i have diabetes then what?
Hi,
went doctor's about a week ago with worries about how tired I was feeling during exercise.
He scheduled me for a blood test but said he thought it would be fine.

Went on tuesday and got a call about the results on friday.
They told me my blood glucose was high so they want me to come for a fasting blood test on the 5th of May.
From the 10 in the evening the night before until my test at 8:30 the next morning I'm not allowed to eat or drink anything except some water.

The reason I'm worried is that I don't eat after 10 in the evening usually anyway and all I had before the first blood test was plain porridge.

So I'm pretty sure I'll be diabetic, what would I do / happen after?

Answers:

The first question you need to ask is about the blood test on Tuesday. Was it a fasting blood sugar? When had you last eaten, and what did you eat? Everyone's blood sugar is high after eating certain foods. So a high number might not mean anything at all.

In the meantime, it is not worth getting worried about something that may prove out to be a false alarm.

Just relax, go for the test on 5th May, and take things one step at a time.

Even if you are found to have diabetes, it is not the end of the world. Sure, diabetes sucks, but it is manageable, and with hard work, there is no reason why you cannot live a long healthy life.

It depends on what kind of diabetes you have some your aloud to have sugar some kinds your not. like my baby sister she can only have some candy and if she eats to much she feels like she has to vomit :( poor her and she is only 8

don't use tea, butter, ghee. lower the carbohydrate

I understand completely. I remember when I was first diagnosed. Mine was through tiredness as well. The reason for fasting before the test is to make sure that you have no other food to boost glucose in the blood. The blood test will show a 3 month history of your blood glucose levels. You will know if you are diabetic after this test comes back.
If you are, then depending on various factors, you may be prescribed metformin. We all seem to be given that drug first. It is very good at it's job, but some people have dodgy tummies when they take it. Do not worry, there are plenty of drugs out there.
Try and keep exercise up and do hold back on carbohydrates. Especially processed ones.
