I run cross country and track, and yes running does make you loose weight. But, unless you run one mile in 20 mins (which no offense if you do, isn't a good sign). Therefore running an average 8 min. mile once a day won't do much. You need to keep your heart rate elevated for at least 20 mins. After 20 mins you start to burn fat, that first 20 mins you burn glucose from food you ate that day. After about 23-27 mins you will start to burn muscle which is bad unless you are weight training to recoup. I love to run but I don't think cardio is they best long term way to loose weight. Weight training is. The more muscle you have the more calories you need, the more fat you burn naturally. And as a woman you will not get big and buff like a man (and now I'm just babbling). So to get to the point, do cardo 3 times a week and run anywhere between 30 mins to and hr and add some weight liftng and you will see results. Remember never work the same muscle group two days in a row. Good luck!

well if you do it every day then over time you will lose weight, but we cant tell how much you will loose. if you eat healthy too, then you will loose a very good amount of weight!

I don't know, but I was just thinking to myself today that I should start running also, because runners are thin, huh? I would assume you would lose weight, but if you are looking to lose weight and get healthy you should try starting it off with a nutritional cleanse. I recommend Isagenix. Visit my website and watch a 10 min. Video called are you toxic. You will want to cleanse right away and then your exercise program will be kicked into high gear right from the start. lexiwinder.isagenix.com Email me if you have any questions

It's not about "running a mile."

It's about getting your heart beat to the target rate for maximum cardiovascular benefit.

If you get your heart beat high enough, for long enough the weight will come off...but you have to keep it at that rate for a certain amount of time.

Good luck, and keep on it!

you burn about 100 calories running 1 mile.
700 calories a week
3000 a month.
so less than a pound a month.
if you want to lose more, cut down on how many calories you eat.,

3500 calories is 1 pound.
