Is it easier to gain muscle if you have lost muscle?!

Question: i used to lift a lot of weights and i have been sick for awhile and i notice significant muscle loss due to not being able to lift for about a month. i am basically back to where i started before lifting. since i once had the muscle at one time will it be easier and quicker to gain the muscle back or am i back to square one?

It's likely the majority of what you have lost is muscular pump. i.e water retention and blood filling the muscle tissue.

If you have lost muscle tissue it can be regained fairly quickly. Just like a deflated baloon, it can be inflated again easier than a fresh baloon.

How much weight have you lost?

Of course it won't happen overnight. but you will get it back. Get started, you'll be surprised just how fast it will come back.

First, you're not back to square one. When you exersise regularly your muscles have more blood in them, so the look bigger than they really are. So start exersising, maybe things are better than they look.

As for will it be easier or not - maybe a little easier because now your stamina should be better than that of an untrained person.

Don't worry, you'll bounce back. Muscle has memory, and its much easier to come back than to get there in the first place. At one time I was able to bench 175 only 2 times. I stopped working out for a while due to mostly laziness. I started back barely able to do 135 7 times. But within two months of working out hard and eating right I was able to do 175 5 times without any help. Just get back in the routine and you'll be fine.
