How to avoid emotional/binge eating?!

Question: I am little bit overweight, I actually got into that position from a perfect figure 'cause, I was a emotional eater, I mean when I stepped from late teens to 20s( I am 22), i had to face more complicated challenges in life which were new to me. One way I used to get away from them was excessive eating or emotional eating. Do you guys have any solutions in order to stop it? like healthy alternatives? I am so worried that I will continue to do that and ruin my body.

you need to associate your negative situations with something other than eating

try excercise, music, talking to someone...
anything but eating

and if you are doing another activity while eating (such as watching tv) you need to stop that

if you can find something (anything) and do that instead of eating for 21 days it will subconciously become habit

i know it will be tough, but what works for a lot of people is to carry a picture of a 'fat' person around with them at all times

whenever you feel like binge eating look at the picture and think this could be you

DON'T stop your normal eating habits though

i use to do that but i stopped after i did lots of workouts and lost a lot of weight. I still confront eat now and again but i can control it, it's ok to do it, but not often. I still do and i'm underweight. you just have to do it in moderation and do lots of workouts. Report It

  • I set an eating plan for myself which involves 3 healthy, well balanced meals a day and no snacks. I make sure that I do eat those 3 meals, never skip a meal. This way I know that I'm eating enough to sustain myself. When I'm hungry between meals its usually an emotional thing. Over time I was able to determine the difference between emotional eating and hunger.

Focus your mind on something else and keep a fixed eating habit.
