How much do I need to weigh before I do sit ups?!


Question: I weigh right now, 169 fully clothed. I'm twenty one years old, I'm not very athletic but I'm not in bad shape. I can't do more then 10 sit ups, and even then the next day my core is pretty sore.

I have the most fat around my waist, and would like to know how much I should weigh, or what I should do before I start on a good sit up workout. I work out with other stuff now, push ups, pull ups, and some weighted bars but I want a flat stomach the most.

Any tips or ideas would really help me.

Your height, weight, and age are irrelevant. You can start doing sit-ups at any time.

But sit-ups don't do anything to remove fat from around your stomach. Sit-ups only tone and strengthen abdominal muscles. You'll need to eat less and exercise more to reduce your belly fat.

The average human skeleton weights 45 pounds...Skin and Organs add another 60 to this....so by reasoning, you would need to weight at least 106 pounds to do a sit up, relying on the fact that the extra pound of weight was in the form of abdominal muscles.

you don't have to be a certain weight to do sit-ups. Remember, you have to have a healthy diet, do cardio, and work the entire body in order to lose weight and body fat. Just doing situps won't do the trick.

Trust me, i know. I lost 20 pounds of fat in 3 months.

If you can't do more than 10 sit-ups at age 21, you are in bad shape, regardless of your height or weight. You should start immediately.
